Muscle Testing
What is it?
Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology (AK) or manual muscle testing (MMT), is an alternative medicine technique that can be used to assist in diagnosis and treatment of various health conditions.
How does it work?
The fundamental idea behind muscle testing is that muscles are connected to glands and organs, and that specific muscle weakness can be an indicator of distal internal problems. These problems can range from organ or gland problems, chemical imbalances, nerve damage, or reduced blood supply. When you present a treatment option that improves the muscle weakness, that treatment should correct the underlying health issue that the muscle weakness uncovered.
Why does Dr. Pulley use it?
She uses it to help enhance her ability to help uncover underlying issues to better address your needs. Sometimes two things (such as herbs) could both help you, but your body can tell her which it would prefer.
Dr. Pulley uses Meridian Autonomic Testing (MAT), which is a unique muscle testing technique based on acupuncture points. She was drawn to the muscle testing technique due to her background and training in acupuncture. Many of the MAT testing points are actual acupoints that she needles on a regular basis.
Can I try it??
She incorporates MAT into her Functional Medicine evaluation and offers it as a standalone service.
